Bekah Ryan (Farm Fitness Coordinator, Personal Training, Diving)

Bekah Ryan is a lifelong member of the Farm and has been dedicated to providing new programs at the Farm since her high school years when she started the Farm’s Day and Youth camp diving program. Rebekah ran the Day and Youth camp diving program until heading to East Carolina University where she was a D1 athlete on the ECU Swimming and Diving team. During her years as a collegiate athlete, she found her passion for fitness and health. Rebekah graduated from ECU with a BS in Secondary Science Education and taught for 2 years in Baltimore City Maryland before starting a family. Rebekah is an AFAA certified group fitness instructor, NASM certified personal trainer and NLCA trained online fitness coach. As our new Director of Fitness at the Farm Rebekah looks forward to continuing the current fitness and diving programs as well as introducing new comprehensive fitness programs to help our members reach all their health and fitness goals. Hannah Southard (Personal Trainer by appointment)

Hannah was born and raised in Northern Ireland and has been a PTR certified tennis coach since 2011, coaching throughout high school and college on weekends and holidays. She played tennis for Lancaster University before graduating in 2015. While at college, Hannah discovered her passion for training in the gym to improve her sports performance and began working in a local gym. Hannah moved to NC in early 2017 to pursue coaching and has been working at The Farm ever since. In 2018, Hannah became a NASM certified Personal Trainer to help others to stay active both on and off the tennis court.

Candi Wood (Farm Pure Barre) 

Candi is an owner/instructor at Pure Barre Chapel Hill + Durham. Her love for fitness bloomed in her early years as a competitive dancer. Candi is a former Miami Dolphin Cheerleader and after hanging up her cheer poms in 2013 became a certified barre instructor in Fort Lauderdale, FL in 2014. In 2018, she moved to Chapel Hill and had the opportunity to become an owner alongside her business partner, Sara Kronenfeld. She is grateful every day to do what she loves and is inspired daily by her amazing community at Pure Barre Durham + Chapel Hill!  

Michael Khoury (Personal Trainer by appointment)

Michael grew up at The Farm going to all the camps. As a teenager and young adult, he then worked as a lifeguard and swim instructor for 8 years at The Farm pool. After playing rugby and basketball in high school, Michael went on to play rugby at East Carolina University. He developed his passion for fitness through athletics which led him to pursue a career exercise physiology. After graduating from ECU in 2016 Michael moved to Norfolk, Virginia to work in a sports orthopedic physical therapy clinic which focused on athletes of all levels and ages including tennis players. Michael’s focus is on strength and conditioning, sport specific training, and helping people achieve their fitness goals whatever they may be. Michael is excited to continue his personal training with members at The Farm and is ready to help you develop an exercise plan which is individually prescribed with your goals and needs in mind. Katie Corley (Cardio PopUp Workout)

Exercise is an important part of Katie’s life. With three young boys and a hectic schedule, she enjoys both the physical and mental benefits she gets from a great workout. Sharing this love of exercise and the numerous positive benefits it can provide is what lead Katie to create PopUp Workout, LLC. Her goal is to make each class a challenging and unique workout that will leave you energized, motivated, and stronger to tackle the rest of your day. Katie is an ACE certified instructor and has taught numerous types of classes including barre, HITT (high intensity interval training), tabata, boot camp, and toning. Adeline Dorough (Farm Kids on the Move) 

Adeline Dorough is passionate about fun fitness and an active lifestyle. She has taught various classes at the Farm from the water aerobics to teen programs during her undergraduate career at UNC where she studied Exercise and Sport Science and volunteered with two exercise and wellness programs: Get Real and Heel and Fitness Breaks. After receiving her Master of Public Health in Health Behavior, she began working at the UNC Kidney Center developing and implementing interventions in outpatient dialysis settings. Adeline has led various exercise programs at The FARM and is committed to meeting the diverse needs of her clients by incorporating a variety of techniques and approaches into each program. She is currently completing her 200hr Yoga Teacher Training under the guidance of Kathryn Smith at Yoga Off East in Durham, NC. 

James Sutton (Tai Chi)

James is an instructor with the Magic Tortoise Taijiquan School under the direction of Dr. Jay Dunbar. James began his training in 2005 and has had many experienced instructors to include “Lao Ma” Lamoureux and Wang Ming Bo. James has attended international Tai Chi Chuan Symposiums and has won medals in several state tournaments. James also practices Chen, and Wu/Hao styles of Tai Chi, Liuhebafaquan (water boxing) as well as push hands and some weapons including sword, stick, and dao.

Kat Thorburn (Yoga/Mind Body/Integrative Programs)

Kat is thrilled to share her passion for yoga with children this Fall at The Farm.  Her classes are especially designed for 8-12 year olds.  They offer a unique blend of fun and playful practice that leaves students feeling refreshed and inspired.  Kat is a certified instructor in the “Kidding Around Yoga” method, and enjoys incorporating song, dance, creative movement and art into her classes.  As a classically trained ballet dancer, Kat became a dedicated follower of yoga after a life changing accident.  She believes that yoga, while a physically and mentally challenging practice, offers a quiet sense of mindfulness that is particularly beneficial to children in today’s over scheduled and busy world.  In addition, Kat is a veteran Public School Teacher Assistant and on many afternoons, you will find Kat teaching yoga classes to kiddos at her home studio.

Sara Kronenfeld ( Farm Pure Barre)  

Sara is an owner/instructor with Candi Wood at Pure Barre Chapel Hill + Durham. During the summer of 2013, Sara began taking Pure Barre classes in Wilmington, NC. After college, her passion for fitness and health grew. She moved back for a job teaching Pure Barre in Chapel Hill/Durham in 2015. Since then, it has become more than just a workout – it is her passion and a lifestyle that she likes to share with others. Sara is now dedicated to sharing her energy and passion with her team, clients, and anyone who wants to try it! To be able to leave a workout stronger and feeling empowered while working towards fitness goals is what makes Pure Barre so special.  

Carolyn Leech (Mind/Body/Integrative Programs)

A retired engineer, Carolyn Leech is a graduate of Temple of Kriya Yoga Teacher Training Program (Hatha Yoga), Chicago, IL with 14+ years of yoga teaching experience.  She is recognized by Yoga Alliance as being registered at the 200-hour level of experience with 1000 hours of teaching experience. She completes continuing education every year including 200+ hours of Iyengar Yoga teacher training and has taken over 500 Iyengar yoga classes. Her career focus is to provide alignment- based yoga classes while preparing for Iyengar Yoga teacher certification. Carolyn moved to North Carolina in 2017 to enjoy time with grandchildren and extended family and to continue teaching yoga.
