Yoga for Injury Prevention with Laura Terry
Mondays, 6 – 7pm (June 6th start)
Outdoors at The Farm, Register on Court Reserve
If you enjoy and/or compete in sports–tennis, soccer, running, swimming, even vigorous yard work, to name a few–you know that injury is one of the last things you want to keep you from doing what you love or what keeps you sane.  In this 8-week series of yoga classes, we will work on joint mobility, learn to engage deep core muscles that support the spine and the hips, and address common muscular and postural imbalances that can lead to injury or pain. We will take a deeper dive into the breath for more efficiency, but also as a way to get a handle on stress and anxiety of competition and everyday life, to feel grounded and present.  This class is designed for those trying to maintain their activity level and fitness as well as for competitive athletes looking for ways to improve their performance with mindfulness and anatomically based exercise and movement.
Meet the instructor:
With a degree in Exercise and Sport Science, Laura Terry has been a practicing Physical Therapist since 1998 and a yoga teacher since 2008. She combines the anatomical and biomechanical skills of PT and exercise physiology with the traditions of yoga. Her teaching aims to correct muscular imbalance, heal or prevent injury and optimize function and performance.
