I am passionate about fitness and have been leading individual and group fitness programs for 25 years. I am certified through the American Council on Exercise as a Personal Trainer and Health Coach and have been teaching and coaching tennis for over 30 years.
I customize my workouts to accommodate my clients’ fitness level, experience and aspirations. All clients receive a thorough assessment of their capabilities and skill sets before I create a customized fitness program.

Adeline Dorough (Farm Kids on the Move coming back in the Fall of 2022)
Adeline Dorough is passionate about fun fitness and an active lifestyle. She has taught various classes at the Farm from the water aerobics to teen programs during her undergraduate career at UNC where she studied Exercise and Sport Science and volunteered with two exercise and wellness programs: Get Real and Heel and Fitness Breaks. After receiving her Master of Public Health in Health Behavior, she began working at the UNC Kidney Center developing and implementing interventions in outpatient dialysis settings. Adeline has led various exercise programs at The FARM and is committed to meeting the diverse needs of her clients by incorporating a variety of techniques and approaches into each program. She is currently completing her 200hr Yoga Teacher Training under the guidance of Kathryn Smith at Yoga Off East in Durham, NC.
James Sutton (Tai Chi)
James is an instructor with the Magic Tortoise Taijiquan School under the direction of Dr. Jay Dunbar. James began his training in 2005 and has had many experienced instructors to include “Lao Ma” Lamoureux and Wang Ming Bo. James has attended international Tai Chi Chuan Symposiums and has won medals in several state tournaments. James also practices Chen, and Wu/Hao styles of Tai Chi, Liuhebafaquan (water boxing) as well as push hands and some weapons including sword, stick, and dao.
Kat Thorburn (Yoga/Mind Body/Integrative Programs)
Kat is thrilled to share her passion for yoga with children this Fall at The Farm. Her classes are especially designed for 8-12 year olds. They offer a unique blend of fun and playful practice that leaves students feeling refreshed and inspired. Kat is a certified instructor in the “Kidding Around Yoga” method, and enjoys incorporating song, dance, creative movement and art into her classes. As a classically trained ballet dancer, Kat became a dedicated follower of yoga after a life changing accident. She believes that yoga, while a physically and mentally challenging practice, offers a quiet sense of mindfulness that is particularly beneficial to children in today’s over scheduled and busy world. In addition, Kat is a veteran Public School Teacher Assistant and on many afternoons, you will find Kat teaching yoga classes to kiddos at her home studio.
Carolyn Leech (Iyengar Yoga)
A retired engineer, Carolyn Leech is a graduate of Temple of Kriya Yoga Teacher Training Program (Hatha Yoga), Chicago, IL with 14+ years of yoga teaching experience. She is recognized by Yoga Alliance as being registered at the 200-hour level of experience with 1000 hours of teaching experience. She completes continuing education every year including 200+ hours of Iyengar Yoga teacher training and has taken over 500 Iyengar yoga classes. Her career focus is to provide alignment- based yoga classes while preparing for Iyengar Yoga teacher certification. Carolyn moved to North Carolina in 2017 to enjoy time with grandchildren and extended family and to continue teaching yoga. Carolyn has been employed as yoga teacher by Triangle YMCA since June 2017 and at the FARM and in Raleigh since May 2017. Pat Karrigan (Pat’s Power Hour)
Pat has been on a Fitness Journey for many years, and she enjoys sharing her passion for exercise. She is dedicated to helping others reach their fitness goals through personal training and group fitness instruction. Pat is also involved with the medical side of wellness, leading a class for cardiac rehab graduates and working in occupational therapy. Pat has 3 grown sons, 2 rescue dogs and a love for the outdoors!
Laura Terry (Yoga for Injury Prevention)
With a degree in Exercise and Sport Science, Laura Terry has been a practicing Physical Therapist since 1998 and a yoga teacher since 2008. She combines the anatomical and biomechanical skills of PT and exercise physiology with the traditions of yoga. Her teaching aims to correct muscular imbalance, heal or prevent injury and optimize function and performance.

Lauren Mangili (fitness class instructor)
Lauren is a fitness/wellness/health promotion specialist. She is experienced in fitness/wellness program planning, design and implementation with a primary focus on promoting adherence by offering motivation and support. Lauren is certified to teach a variety of fitness formats and has found that Pilates training is a form of exercise that allows participants to fully experience the mind/body connection. She is currently the Associate Director Campus Recreation/Director of Fitness at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill since 1995. Lauren and her husband, Mike, have three sons (Nick, Tony and Joey). She is an avid sports spectator/fan and enjoys teaching/participating in a variety of group fitness class formats and believes “with a positive attitude anything is possible!”
