The Farm
Nestled in a beautiful rural setting at the east edge of Chapel Hill, the UNC Faculty-Staff Recreation Association is affectionately known as “The Farm.” A short distance from downtown and campus, The Farm is set in the middle of twenty-eight acres of woods and pasture. The Farm is a perfect place for families and individuals to exercise, play, learn sports, relax, and make friends.

Founded in 1967
The Farm, founded in 1967, boasts the following facilities and programs:
- twelve lighted clay tennis courts
- four lighted hard tennis courts w/lines and nets for 8 pickleball courts
- a full service tennis/pickleball shop
- a tennis/pickleball practice wall
- tennis and pickleball instruction from beginner to tournament level
- two 25-meter swimming pools, baby pool, and pool house
- aquatic instruction consisting of swim lessons, lifeguard training, & diving program
- summer swim team
- playground
- disc golf course
- picnic tables
- softball field
- three picnic shelters
- sand volleyball court
- 2 bocce courts
- outdoor basketball court
- summer day camps – 5-6 yrs, 7-9 yrs, 10-13 yrs
- a clubhouse with kitchen and dressing rooms that can be rented for functions
- fitness room with cardio and strength machines, fitness training and programs for all levels.
Special Events
The Farm hosts a variety of special events throughout the year. Family-friendly options include campouts, Low Country Boils, Fiesta Parties, Bingo, and a Haunted House. Adults can enjoy wine tastings, beerfests, and summer pool parties. Social tennis and pickleball mixers are also offered year-round.
